Research

I’m a conservation biologist and my researches concern biodiversity maintenance and enhancement in agro-ecosystems and natural areas residues.

In particular, I’m interested in understanding how animal species respond to habitat changes due to anthropic activities, at both site and landscape level. Aim of most of my studies is the development of environmentally friendly actions and conservation plans to preserve biodiversity, mainly in the Po plain (northern Italy).

My current post-doctoral activity is focused on understanding the effects of ricefield management changes in the last 30 years on heron populations of north-western Italy, considering that rice fields provided 75-90% of preys for reproducing herons in the eighties and significant changes occurred in rice cultivation in last decades.
