Research

Applied (aquatic) ecology

My research interests are very broad and prior to entering the field of aquatic ecology, I spent some time with studying amphibian and reptiles conservation ecology and bird migration. After having been attracted to limnology I focused on the ecology of alpine lakes. My purpose is to understand food web functioning directly in the field and for this reason most of my studies have been carried out in several alpine lakes in the Gran Paradiso National Park (South western Alps). At the moment I am working on applied conservation issues within the BIOAQUAE LIFE+ project, which provides the eradication of introduced fish from alpine lakes by the use of non invasive gill-netting techniques.
